Nottingham and its partners in this CDT (Cardiff and Sheffield) have world-leading experimental and computational facilities which can be used to explore how to how the future energy world will operate without fossil fuels and how that transition can be made quickly and safely. We adopt the philosophy that such developments will depend on a broad range of technologies and on public and societal acceptance and we encourage collaborative research between all these disciplines.
A First or Upper Second Class degree or MSc in a relevant subject such as Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental or Materials Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics.
We also welcome applications from those with a similar qualification in a Social Science discipline such as Psychology, Sociology or Politics but with an established interest in relevant technological areas relating to energy topics.
IELTS: 6.0 (no less than 5.5 in each element)
