Visit course webpageThe objective of the course is to present a record of original work, or an ordered and critical evaluation of materials to the chosen area of research. Part of the course is devoted to a taught study-unit discussing legal research, analysis and writing. Through supervised research, you will become equipped with a sound understanding of your chosen topic, advanced research and writing skills. The aim is to encourage appreciation of the relevant rules of the international legal regime. The dissertation is intended to contribute to the subject, either through your original work or through the analytical exposition of existing knowledge. The Department specializes in the international law of the sea, maritime security law, international law on maritime search and rescue, international human rights law and international migration law and may accept to supervise research in these fields. Other areas may be considered subject to supervisor availability.
