About Informatics, MSc - at University of Klagenfurt

The field of informatics is developing rapidly. The aim is to solve emerging problems with the help of computers. The Master's degree programme "Informatics" allows you to become much more than a mere user of tools. Instead, you learn how to develop and refine your personal toolkit using computer science concepts and methods.

To help you build a solid foundation for your career in the long run, the English-language Master's degree programme "Informatics" provides you with advanced skills in subjects such as Artificial Intelligence, Business Information Systems, Data Science and Engineering, Distributed Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Information and System Security, Multimedia Systems and Software Engineering. During your studies you will master all the tools you need to manage problem-solving processes and develop innovations.

Building a broad theoretical foundation is essential in order for you to be able to keep your level of knowledge up to date rapidly and independently. Apply your expertise while you are still studying by completing a relevant project in the field amounting to 18 ECTS credits. And those looking to cross not only the university's boundaries, but also those of the country, are encouraged to do so: We recommend spending at least one semester at one of our 250 partner universities.

Entry requirements

You do not have to go through a special admission procedure to start the Master's degree programme in Informatics in Klagenfurt.

You only have to meet the following conditions, which also apply to all other programmes:

  • Bachelor's degree programme in Applied Informatics or a degree programme of equivalent academic value at another post-secondary educational institution. Depending on your previous degree, you may need to take additional exams.
  • Proof of proficiency in English at Level B2 of the CEFR
