About Creative Writing, BA (Hons) - at University of Greenwich

This programme allows you to expand the scope and depth of your writing across a variety of formats while also incorporating courses from a variety of other subject pathways.

The programme gives you the opportunity to explore a variety of writing in different forms and genres including fiction, poetry, performance writing, playwriting and screenwriting. Assessment consists of portfolios of work produced each term, alongside journals and reflective essays, during which you will reflect on and analyse the development of your writing process.

It develops the essential skills of communication, independent research, self-discipline and teamwork valued by employers in a wide range of areas, and allows you to develop your authorial voice and pursue your interest in writing.

The aims of the programme are:

  • To develop your fundamental writing skills in a range of disciplines, while allowing specialisation through a choice of options
  • To present a wide range of texts from many periods and cultures, thereby encouraging you to engage with diversity
  • To enable you to undertake research and develop the skills to critically evaluate texts and contexts.
