About Economics and Politics, BA - at University of Exeter Business School, University of Exeter

This programme aims to provide a thorough grounding in both economics and politics. It explores the interaction between economic ideas and economic behaviour on the one hand and the working of the political process and government policy on the other.

Teaching staff are drawn from the School of Business and Economics and the Department of Politics within the School of Historical Political and Sociological Studies. At each level there is a special inter-disciplinary module, taught in co-operation by staff from both Schools (Introduction to Political Economy in year one, Public Choice in year two, International Political Economy in year three).

In the first year, you'll take introductory modules in Economics and Politics and in Statistical analysis. During the second and final years a variety of modules are taken, some of which are especially concerned with policy-making processes in economic and social affairs. As one of your final examination papers, you'll select an option drawn from appropriate courses offered by the two Schools, and can therefore specialise to some degree in either Politics or Economics. Alternatively, you have the opportunity to present a dissertation on a suitable topic, provided that satisfactory arrangements can be made for its supervision.
