About Advertising, BA (Hons) - at University for the Creative Arts (UCA)

Taught by highly experienced practitioners with connections to the biggest names in the industry, and sitting within our Business School for the Creative Industries, our BA (Hons) Advertising course at UCA Farnham offers you a unique opportunity to blend academic excellence with professional experience.

Supported by some of the world’s best-known creative directors – including Rory Sutherland, Vice Chairman of Ogilvy UK – our course continues to develop a mentoring scheme, giving you the chance to enter the advertising and marketing industry professionally trained.

You'll build your own unique book of advertising campaigns, showcasing high levels of creativity in art direction and copywriting, as well as digital media. With our comprehensive curriculum, you’ll learn how to tackle challenging briefs both creatively and strategically, whilst developing a deep understanding of theory and its application in practice.

Our aim is to teach you to learn how to become a creative problem causer and thinker – to lead advertising rather than follow. We want you to understand and unfold strategies that are focused and creative, becoming an independent, intelligent professional with the ability to grow and reflect.

We’ll encourage you to collaborate with fellow students to create fresh, attention-grabbing creative projects across a range of platforms. Within the wider UCA community you’ll find insight and knowledge from fellow artists in other disciplines such as fine artists, photographers, illustrators, filmmakers, musicians, fashion designers and architects.

Throughout this advertising course, you will work to build specific skills in critical analysis, research, production and communication appropriate to the industry, whilst also developing your creative and strategic thinking abilities.

Equipped with a fantastic library and excellent support services, our Farnham campus provides the ideal environment for this course – close enough to London’s leading ad agencies and mentors to gain valuable industry knowledge and experience but set in an inspiring and creative environment surrounded by like-minded people.
