BENEFITS OF A LAW QUALIFICATION
A law qualification can help you break into a wide variety of industries. From human rights to music, city finance or sport, law covers virtually every aspect of modern life. So whether you want to work in the legal sector or wider business world, a legal education is a great place to start. A legal career is satisfying, challenging, exciting, varied and rewarding, with many different types of specialisms to choose from and new areas always being developed to accommodate the modern world.
Our practical law degrees will develop your skills in critical thinking, advocacy, negotiation, analysis, and strategy. These core skills are highly valued in the workplace, whatever you choose to do next. Our alumni have gone into politics, journalism, banking and finance, technology and the media as well as the legal sector.
What really sets us apart from other universities is our belief that our students should learn in a realistic, professional and contemporary context. We focus exclusively on practice-based training and give students access to our extensive careers service and jobs vacancy database as soon as they accept a place with us. Through our pro bono programme, law students can hone their skills by working on real cases before they graduate.
You’ll enjoy a range of interactive and lively activities both inside and outside of the classroom. Business games, mock trials and negotiation competitions are just some of the practical exercises you’ll take part in to develop your legal skills. In your spare time, you can join a range of clubs and societies, sports teams and fundraising committees, or even start your own, as well as enjoying the more relaxed side of student social life.
All students are automatically members of the University’s Student Association (SA). The SA is tasked with enhancing your student and academic experience by having a strong representation of the student cohort.
The SA primarily supports students by being a strong and active voice for you at all levels of the University. The Student Association President leads on ensuring the student voice is heard in committees and working groups that cover a range of subjects and topics across the University.
You can join a Student Association Events Committee to work with your fellow students in developing a full and varied programme of extra-curricular activities, clubs and societies, and much more. The exact mix of events and groups varies at each of our campuses and as it’s all put together by our students, it’s really up to you what’s on offer.
CLUBS AND SOCIETIES
There are a broad range of clubs and societies across each of our campuses managed by the Student Association. Here is just an example of some of the clubs that we’ve run recently:

The SA can also assist students who wish to appeal a decision made regarding a reasonable adjustment for a disability. The Student Association Executive Officer leads on supporting students in the correct procedure for this.
The Student Association is always looking for new representatives, so why not get involved as a Class Representative or even a Student Association Vice-President to attend the Student Parliament and represent your campus?
