Woosong Education Foundation, our principal funding source, was founded in 1954 by Kim Jung-Woo with the aim of educating students who could take the initiative in rebuilding the Korean economy.
Towards the end of the 20th century Woosong Education Foundation established a new undertaking, a university, to contribute to the Global community. Since 1994, when our sister university, Woosong University, was founded, it has earned a reputation for excellence in preparing students for practical careers.
The creation of SolBridge in 2007 was a natural extension of the academic activism we see here in the city of Daejeon, which is the home of 17 colleges and universities and 35 government and private sector research institutes. Mission of SolBridge is to become one of the top 5 business schools in Asia within 10 years.
SolBridge prepares students to be the next generation of Asian “Thought Leaders” in the rapidly growing Asian economy.
SolBridge is unique among business schools for several reason including that it:
- teaches all courses in English,
- employs 80% international professors who have graduated from either Tier One or highly rated institutions,
- follows an international business teaching model,
- focuses on business in Asia through academic and cultural/language programs including the requirement for BBA students to study a third language,
- has an international student body from 35 countries
More than 80% of SolBridge students come from outside of Korea, and strives to maintain a balance of theory and practice in its teaching through immersion programs, special lecture series, certificate programs, workshops, site visits, and internships.

According to the results of the Youth Dream University survey, Woosong University was placed among the 10 best universities in Korea on a par with Seoul National University, Korea University, Yeonsei University, and Sogang University, based on their student support, employment rate after graduation, and overall educational quality.

At SolBridge, we believe that learning is not valuable if it stays in textbooks and notes, and therefore we emphasize applied and practical learning. Through our internships and projects, we ensure that our students are taken out of the classroom and into the realities of today’s business world. Doing business today requires all participants to understand the world as a complex system requiring serious engagement with the issues facing the world such as globalization, environmental change, food and energy price instability, and an aging society.
At SolBridge we prepare students to face these challenges and to find solutions to the problems facing business and society. In their final semester, all SolBridge students will undertake research projects designed to expose them to real-life business issues, thereby consolidating what they have learned, and rounding off the knowledge they have gained during their studies.

This network assures that graduates not only receive outstanding instruction, but are connected with a career-building dialog with others around the world while they are still students.

Our week-long Immersion Programs provide students intensive exposure to a chosen management topic, through lectures, workshops, and seminars conducted by local and global experts.
In accordance with Korean Ministry of Education regulations, SolBridge is nationally accredited as a unit of its sister institution Woosong University. SolBridge is a member of the Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS), the Eurasian Economic Scientist Society and Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and is engaged in pursuing AACSB accreditation.
Academic credits earned at SolBridge are transferrable to other quality institutions of higher education. Finally, SolBridge is also certified by the International Education Quality Assurance System(IEQAS). This Korean accreditation body grants certification to 30 universities only because of their high standards for foreign student recruitment, retention,management and services offered to foreign students studying in Korean universities.
