About BA (Hons) Visual Communication: Specialisation in Illustration, BA (Hons), UG:Bachelor - at Regent's University London

Visual communication is about the delivery of ideas and information through design and affects all aspects of how we understand and interact with the world around us. It includes graphic design, photography, illustration, web design, motion graphics and packaging.

The BA (Hons) Visual Communication offers a wide range of art, design and photography courses, leading to in-depth, career-focused specialisations.

The illustration specialisation encourages you to explore the full potential of both digital technology and traditional methods in illustration. You will gain confidence in creating artwork across a range of media and formats.

You will create illustrations for many publishing and advertising contexts, including cartooning, children’s books, 3-D illustration and animation.

Please note: tuition fees only cover the October, January and March terms. Summer school starting in June and July incurs an extra cost.

Why should I choose this programme?

You will gain confidence in creating artwork across a range of media and formats, from studio-based work including life drawing, painting and printmaking, to computer illustration for both print and digital applications.

Key skills, aims and objectives

You will be encouraged to explore, discover and develop your individual strengths. Regular workshops will enhance your drawing skills throughout the course.

Entry requirements

Applicants must provide evidence of successful completion of 12 years of schooling, with a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 in the American High School grading system or equivalent. This is calculated on a scale of 0-4, with a 2.5 roughly equivalent to a C+/B-. Other international qualifications, as recommended by the National Academic Recognition Information Centre (NARIC) will also be accepted. For those applicants whose mother tongue is not English, we also require evidence of English language proficiency. Advanced Placement: If you have completed more than 12 years of schooling, you may be eligible for advanced placement, reducing the time it will take you to graduate by up to one year. If you have already studied at university level, this can also be counted towards an advanced placement. Please refer to our website for further details.
