About Economics, MSc - at Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL)

This is a well-established intensive programme providing rigorous training in modern economic theory and applications for students who wish to train for careers as professional economists in the private sector or the government, or who wish subsequently to pursue research in economics.Course contentThe programme has eight one-semester courses in total. In the first semester you will take four core courses: Macroeconomics A Microeconomics A Econometrics A Mathematics for Economists. In the second semester you take: Macroeconomics B Microeconomics B Econometrics B Option.AssessmentA written examination is taken in May for each course unit. Some units may also include assessed coursework. You will also produce a 10,000-word dissertation over the summer, which will normally include both theoretical economic content and applied results.Entry requirementsYou should have at least an upper-second class honours degree, or its equivalent, in economics or a related subject. A good basic knowledge of relevant statistical theory and mathematics is also necessary, and students are required to sit pre-sessional statistics and mathematics examinations following an intensive two-week course in September.
