14-WEEK COURSE – STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMME FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Based on the work of Shakespeare and either Jacobean or English Comedy of Manners playwrights, this course is designed to deepen students’ engagement with classical texts and develop their skills. Intensive and entirely practical, it offers international students an exhilarating introduction to British conservatoire training.
You will take technical classes in acting, voice, singing, textual analysis and interpretation, Alexander Technique, movement and physical theatre, stage combat and historical dance. You will also take part in three workshops, rehearsing scenes and finally a play from classical texts and performing them to your peers. You will attend a variety of London theatre productions, including performances at Shakespeare’s Globe. The course includes a visit to Stratford-upon-Avon to see the work of the Royal Shakespeare Company.
We offer our Semester Programme Classical Acting each autumn and spring.
In the autumn, scene study and workshop performances centre around Shakespeare’s romances and comedies, as well as Jacobean tragedy. Students on our spring diploma cover Shakespeare’s histories and tragedies, as well as English Comedies of Manners. All workshop performances are closed to the public.
