Liverpool Hope's highly successful Social Work programme is run in partnership with Liverpool Personal Services Society (PSS), a large Liverpool-based voluntary sector organisation. The BA course is nationally recognised and validated and leads to eligibility to register with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) as a professional social worker. As well as attending lectures and seminars, you will also have the opportunity to undertake 200 days of practice learning opportunities.
Why choose this subject? 97% of students were satisfied with learning resources and 95% were satisfied overall with BA Social Work (National Student Survey 2015).
Working with you, we aim to develop reflective, autonomous and responsible social work practitioners who are able to work with a range of service user groups.
Alongside developing the knowledge, skills and values required for competence as a social worker, we will support you to develop a total commitment to anti-oppressive practice and social justice in all aspects of your training - academic and practice learning.
The programme has a close working relationship with Liverpool Personal Services Society (PSS) enabling us to produce a distinctive, high-quality course which will ultimately serve the community of Merseyside and social care in general.
To enable us to produce practitioners who will demonstrate a high level of competence in all areas of practice we offer placements in the UK and beyond. Our students have been able to take advantage of placements in India, the USA and Europe. In addition we have been able to offer our students optional extra trips to the Palestinian West Bank.
We have a dedicated Placement Coordinator who takes responsibility for choosing and developing placements.
