About Doctoral Training in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy, PhD - at KU Leuven

Training and development in the Doctoral School Biomedical Sciences consists of three elements:

  • A mandatory truncus communis focusing on essential research skills;
  • Thematic training in a doctoral school programme comprising advanced courses, invited lectures, journal clubs and doctoral seminars focused on a specific biomedical topic;
  • Training and development of personal skills that are relevant for the successful completion of the doctorate and that can be valorised later in different professional sectors.

Entry requirements

The entry requirements for a doctoral programme of the Group Biomedical Sciences are:

  • hold a Master's degree (or some equivalent Higher Education degree) that is relevant to the doctoral research
  • and distinguished him- or herself during or after his/her studies. In the latter case, the candidate's achievements should be corroborated by scientific publications or by professional realizations.

The Doctoral Committee of the Group Biomedical Sciences will assess the candidate's curriculum vitae to decide whether he or she is to be admitted directly or provisional to the doctoral programme or by way of a predoctoral examination.
