About Applied Sustainability Management, MSc - at Haarlem Campus

During the program you will learn to become an Applied Sustainability Manager: a highly qualified professional who can contribute added value to a company or institution beyond the boundaries of their own field applied knowledge and has specialised and interdisciplinary knowledge of different industries including energy, water and logistics, agrobusiness, food, fashion, health care, urban development and mobility.

As a graduate you will master the design and implementation of sustainable and innovative sustainable solutions. You will understand and know how to integrate these solutions with sound business strategies and models. You can also manage complex transformation processes in companies and NGOs in an independent and autonomous way. Your competencies are backed up with competencies in qualitative and quantitative applied research and data analysis. 

In addition, you will have the social competencies that come from social awareness and ethical criteria to work in an interdisciplinary and intercultural environment.

As more and more organizations worldwide (companies, NGOs, governments) focus on a transition to a sustainable future, there is a greater need for researchers, innovators and experts who can shape and drive the transition to a circular economy. In the Dutch labor market alone, the demand for sustainability professionals has doubled in recent years and is expected to increase significantly in the coming years.

Entry requirements

This Master program accepts students with:

  • A business-oriented or information-oriented Bachelor of Science degree (including business administration, international business, computer sciences, information management, innovation management, data science, etc);
  • Any other Bachelor of Science degree plus a minimum of one year of relevant working experience;
  • 21+ Admission Test, this entrance examination is intended for prospective national or international students who are 21 years or older on our program’s start date. By doing the 21+ Admission Test you will take an entrance examination and receive advice on your abilities to follow the study program you have chosen. 

Language requirements:

To join our Master’s program, students must meet the following language requirements:

EU/EEA students

• Professional level of English language.

Non-EU/EEA students

• An IELTS English certificate with a minimum level of 6.5 or equivalent English language certificate.
