About Pre-Master's Programme in Business, Economics, Finance and Management, Pre-Masters, Postgraduate - at ONCAMPUS Southampton

Our Master's Foundation Programme is now titled 'Pre-Master's Programmes'. The programme has been revised to ensure students are best prepared for postgraduate study.

The Pre-Master's Programme (PMP) is a two-semester programme, with guaranteed progression upon successful completion of the programme to a wide range of Master's degrees at the University of Southampton.

Who is this programme designed for?

The Pre-Master's Programme is designed to prepare international students for postgraduate study in the UK. The programme will allow students to improve their English while learning the study skills and research methods that they will need during their Master's degree studies.

How long will I study for?

The duration of the programme is two semesters. Each semester consists of a minimum of 13 teaching weeks. Students will undertake 21 hours of classroom-based study per week. Students will be expected to timetable self-study hours in addition to the classroom-based hours.

Please note: Learning hours are estimated and may be adjusted throughout the course.

As part of these hours, all students will study Academic English Language Development up to 6 hours per week.

  • Research and Digital Literacy Skills
  • Quantitative and Qualitative Research Methods
  • Working in Teams

How will I be assessed?

Each module will have an assessment schedule, which will be completed by the end of the appropriate semester. Assessments will be designed to demonstrate learning across the individual modules of the programme and to allow you to experience a wide range of the assessment methods used in UK postgraduate programmes.

Assessments will include coursework, essays, reports and other structured assignments and oral examinations.

September Intake: 25th September 2023 to 9th August 2024. Semesters: 3 Semesters - Pre-Master's Programme with Pre Sessional English, £28,975, progressing to Master's degree starting in September 2024

November Intake: 6th November 2023 - 9th August 2024. Semesters: 2.5, £26,225, progressing to Master's degree starting in September 2024

January Intake: 15th January 2024 to 9th August 2024. Semesters: 2, £24,195, progressing to Master's degree starting in September 2024

English requirements

5.5 IELTS overall or equivalent, with no less than 5.5 IELTS in each band*.

Academic entry requirements

Successful completion of your bachelor's degree from a recognised university.
