About Juris Doctor at Griffith University

The Juris Doctor program will prepare you for a rewarding career. It is an alternative to the Bachelor of Laws for students who have completed an undergraduate degree in any discipline.

Griffith Law School offers a professional legal curriculum that focuses on core areas of legal practice and the legal skills that lawyers must have. You will have the opportunity to choose law electives based on your interests, including high-level research and clinical courses that emphasise practical legal skills, insights and experience. You will also have the option of completing a major in International Law or Canadian Law.

You will make connections between law and ethics, legal theory, Indigenous issues, and internationalisation. You will also develop interdisciplinary understandings of law and legal work.

You will take courses that cover areas such as crime, contracts, property, corporate law, torts and theories of law.

If you complete the major in Canadian Law you will be eligible for entry into the legal profession in Canada's common law provinces, when accompanied by a Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada.

This program can be completed in two years by taking courses across each trimester.

The Juris Doctor is an AQF Level 9 Masters Extended degree.

What students think about Griffith University

I chose Griffith for its state-of-the-art facilities

I was accepted into five different dental schools in Australia, and I chose Griffith for its state-of-the-art facilities and because it was the only school that offered credit for prior learning.

Griffith has some amazing facilities that really help to solidify my knowledge, which will eventually help me to be the best clinician I can be.

I also thought the Gold Coast was going to be the best fit for me in terms of lifestyle.

Everything from the beaches, to the community, to the vibe of the city is exactly what I hoped it would be.

    Brittani Kwok, Canada
    Master of Dentistry

I love the wide variety of cultures, languages and ethnic backgrounds present across the campus.

As an international student, I love the wide variety of cultures, languages and ethnic backgrounds present across the campus. The university supports international students through dedicated advisors, events and activities.

I love studying at Griffith and aspire to be a medical scientist. At Griffith I can access great medical science and medical laboratory facilities.

My program involves more than 400 hours in university laboratories and 400 hours in real laboratory experience. Hence, graduates have almost 100% employment rate as medical scientists.

    Aya Okamoto, Japan
    Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science

University life here is great and there’s a perfect balance between work and fun.

University life here is great and there’s a perfect balance between work and fun.

Griffith has supported me through my student journey in numerous ways. The International Student Advisors really helped me figure out my study load, they would call and check on me and helped me with finding a house. I’m forever grateful for their support.

I chose Griffith because of its reputation as the top hospitality school in Australia and because it gave me the option to do a double degree. I also love living in the land Down Under! The people are so friendly and warm, always ready to help or have a chat.

    Annamae Manilal, India
Masters of International Tourism and Hospitality Management, Masters of Marketing
