About Geography at Bournemouth University

Geography covers a variety of topics that examine the natural, social, economical and political factors that influence our rapidly changing world.

Our BSc has extremely high student satisfaction rates, and will help you understand ways of managing our environment sustainably and deal with social and environmental conflicts that affect the world we live in.

In addition to gaining a sophisticated education, you’ll also graduate with the practical skills needed to work in a range of industries, through multiple field trips including opportunities along the nearby Jurassic Coast, the Isle of Wight and the New Forest. What’s more, in year two there’s an opportunity to complete field experience abroad. In the past themes have included conservation practice in China, and preparation for climate change in farming communities in Nepal, but you’ll receive more information on this at the end of year one.

Taught by an expert-led team of lecturers, academics and guest speakers, highlights of this diverse course include core and optional units such as Marine Geography, Earth & Society, Biological Oceanography, Cultural Ecology, Globalisation & Marginalisation, and Environmental Law & Management. You’ll also get the chance to participate in a work placement for a total of ten or 30-weeks, depending on the length of your degree, which is intended to help you build that all-important experience that employers are looking for.

100% of our final year students said that they have been able to contact staff when they needed to, join us on live chat now to find out more, or register to meet us at open day.
