Universities in Lithuania

The types of University

There are 37 universities and colleges in Lithuania, which fall into the following categories:

• Public universities – including Kaunas University of Technology, Lithuanian Sports University and Vilnius Academy of Arts.

• Private universities – including European Humanities University, Kazimieras Simonavičius University and LCC International University.

• Religious universities – including Vilnius St. Joseph Seminary and Telšiai Bishop Vincentas Borisevičius Priest Seminary.

• Colleges/Universities of applied sciences – including the International School of Law and Business, the Lithuania Business University of Applied Sciences and Vilnius College.

Language of tuition

Lithuanian is the official language of Lithuania, whilst other languages are also spoken by the population as foreign languages, including German and English.

Lithuanian is the primary language of tuition at universities in Lithuania, whilst courses taught in English are also available.

For example, Kaunas University of Technology offers almost half of its bachelor programmes taught in English, whilst Vilnius College offers 8 of its degree programmes taught in English.
