Greece is increasingly becoming an international educational destination attracting every year thousands of students, scholars and researchers from all over the world. With its abundant cultural legacy and strategic location at the crossroads of the East and West, Greece hails as a unique academic destination to those interested in exploring and discovering it.

Study abroad students choose Greece as their go-to destination thanks to its combination of academic opportunities, varied geography, hospitality, and relaxed lifestyle.

Academic wise, the country offers a wide array of disciplines that make the most of the country’s unique resources.

With state-of-the-art research facilities scattered across the country, students in Greece enjoy not only advanced educational opportunities but also valuable networking connections that can significantly enhance their professional trajectories.

With its rich heritage, Greece can boast an educational tradition in medicine, history, the arts, and the humanities. But there’s more to it. The diverse ecosystem and rich biodiversity provide a perfect setting for research in environmental sciences and biology, whereas the burgeoning information technology and startup sectors position Greece as a dynamic hub for tech innovation and entrepreneurship.

And what about business?

Business Unusual in a land unusual

Located in Athens, Alba Graduate Business School, The American College of Greece, epitomizes the blending of academic excellence with direct business applicability. Since its inception in 1992, in collaboration with the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises, Alba has been at the forefront of business education in Greece. With its motto Business Unusual, Alba was founded to address the needs of Greek businesses for well-trained executives and to disseminate new knowledge within the business community. Its goal is to educate tomorrow’s visionary leaders and to actively promote scientific research, as well as the creation and dissemination of new knowledge. Alba offers 13 postgraduate programs and is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education. All of its MBA programs are accredited by The Association of MBAs, while the MSc in Finance and MSc in SHRM programs are EFMD-accredited.

The connection Alba maintains with the Greek market is evidenced by its active partnerships with international and local companies that participate in various school activities like in class workshops, field consulting projects, career forums, and internship programs. These collaborations ensure that students have frequent interactions with the business community, gaining invaluable practical insights and networking opportunities. Moreover, Alba’s innovative approach includes the creation of Advisory Boards involving industry leaders, such as top shipping magnates and experienced lawyers, which contribute significantly to the practical learning environment.

Upgrade your knowledge and skills to Business Class

An integral part of the student experience in Greece is ‘philoxenia’, the Greek word for hospitality. This culture of inclusivity and warmth not only makes Greece a comfortable place to study but also enriches the educational experience by fostering deep, lasting relationships and providing a supportive community environment. With this notion so deeply embedded in Greek culture, who better than Alba to educate tomorrow’s hospitality professionals?

The Alba MSc in Tourism Management meets the growing needs of the tourism industry to shape high-skilled and knowledgeable professionals, so that they can assume leading roles in the management of tourism organizations. The program blends the requisite specialist operational knowledge and skills, with advanced managerial competencies, in order to educate the new generation of tourism executives. It emphasizes the cross-cultural, moral, ethical, institutional and environmental issues in the management of tourism organizations, while covering all specialized business and operational skills.

The strategic partnership with the luxury resort in Greece, Costa Navarino, and a series of events in collaboration with key tourism players throughout the program, as well as a well-organized internship process strongly support the development of a professional network and increase considerably the employability of students upon graduation.

Navigating the waters of global challenges like a futureproof leader

Shipping is one of the most important sectors in the global economy. Greece boasts a long standing tradition in shipping and is the home of more than 700 shipping companies: the Greeks control the biggest fleet in the world in terms of both value and size. As a result there is a need for shipping graduates with advanced management skills and knowledge.

The MSc in Shipping Management program is designed to transform young graduates and early career professionals into seasoned professionals equipped with the skills, knowledge and expertise required for a successful career in the demanding and highly competitive world of shipping. A specialized program, providing students with a holistic and in depth knowledge of the most important issues in modern commercial shipping.

Investing in your knowledge is to invest in yourself

One of the greatest gifts of studying is the value of investing in oneself through the addition of knowledge and the development of life skills. And Alba knows well about the value of investments.

Its program MSc in Finance is addressed to those interested in an international career in finance in Greece and abroad. Against a backdrop of cataclysmic changes and disruptions in the way that capital markets operate, the program prepares aspiring and seasoned finance professionals for a successful career in the areas of banking, corporate finance, investment management, risk management and treasury management. Three specialization streams are available: 1. Investments 2. Corporate Finance 3. Fintech and Risk Management.

The innovative design and market led curriculum equip students with relevant, up to date skills and knowledge. The flexible program of study enables students to choose from a variety of courses and adjust the duration of their studies according to their own needs. The program is both affiliated by CFA and PRMIA, accredited by EFMD and regularly reviewed by both academic and practitioner committees to strike an optimum balance between theory and practice. These committees review the curriculum and the delivery methods while ensuring that the program offers sufficient practical applications of the knowledge that make sense in today’s world of business. As a result, the program achieves exceptionally high placement rates, reaching up to 90% in a 6-month period after graduation.
