Chiara from Germany, a passionate advocate for sustainability, embarked on such a journey. She studied Global Project and Change Management, an honours programme at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, and now makes a meaningful contribution to space governance and sustainability.

Chiara’s story is one of adaptation and evolution. Initially drawn to environmental conservation, her trajectory shifted during the upheaval of the COVID-19 pandemic. After graduation at the forefront of innovative initiatives

Following her graduation at Windesheim, Chiara pursued a master’s degree in Sustainability Science, Policy, and Society, delving deeper into the intersection of sustainability and space governance. Through her role as a space journalist and later as a Young Graduate Trainee at the European Space Agency (ESA), Chiara found herself at the forefront of innovative initiatives addressing space debris, climate action, and disaster response.

At ESA, Chiara’s work in the accelerators team epitomizes the bridge between space and sustainability. Collaborating across sectors, she seeks to harness space technology to tackle pressing environmental challenges, from tracking wind power for renewable energy to mitigating the impact of natural disasters.

Invaluable skills and open mindset

Central to Chiara’s journey is the ethos of continuous learning and exploration instilled by her education at Windesheim. The interdisciplinary nature of the programme equipped her with invaluable skills and a mindset open to diverse opportunities. Reflecting on her time at Global Project and Change Management, Chiara highlights the importance of networking and seizing every chance for personal and professional growth.

Her advice for current and future students echoes this sentiment, emphasizing the value of curiosity, adaptability, and connection. Chiara’s story is a testament to the transformative power of education and the potential for individuals to effect positive change, both on Earth and beyond.
