Students on a university campus

Between industry connections, curiosity and your future

CODE University of Applied Sciences

All throughout school, the focus is on memorizing topics and studying rather than understanding and following your curiosity. And once you finish school and decide to go to university, the cycle usually continues.

But it doesn’t have to.

Instead of sitting in huge lecture halls, listening to professors yap while you almost take an involuntary nap, you could be working on real projects.

Instead of having to memorize facts and concepts only to forget them right after the exam, you could be getting assessed on your actual knowledge.

And instead of leaving university without any practical experience, you could end your studies with extensive portfolios and industry connections.

At CODE we learn by doing.

Most students already start working on their own projects by their second semester, often in interdisciplinary teams. During assessments, professors grade based on knowledge and application thereof. There aren’t any written exams but rather hand-ins that showcase your project work.

Nowadays, having a degree doesn’t guarantee a job.

So students use projects to gain real experience whilst working in interdisciplinary teams and following their curiosity. To set their students up for success, CODE has developed a partnership program with industry leaders such as Porsche and Telekom. Students are able to work on challenges from these companies, visit production sites and network with people at their dream companies, as well as work with technical equipment in the campus own ‘Maker Space’ sponsored by Telekom.

After their studies, students work at companies like Porsche, Google, Microsoft, Meta, Amazon, SAP, Mozilla, Uber, N26, etc.

Beside working in large tech companies, students also build their own start ups, often out of their CODE projects. Some notable examples being Superchat, Langdock, Pick’em, Slay, zugriff.eu, Aulios, traide, RemNote and Kombo. Several have large customer bases, with RemNote having more than 1 Million users and Slay having over 15M downloads on their product.

CODE is deeply ingrained into the entrepreneurial network of Berlin, with a strong support system within and outside of its community. Professors with a background in entrepreneurship, close connections to the Young Founders Network and regularly recurring talks from start-up founders are just a few of the support systems for students with an interest in entrepreneurship at CODE.

CODE is more than a place, it’s a community.

Students start clubs and initiatives, build lasting connections and organize events. CODE is what you make of it.

And its environment enables you to become the best version of yourself. At CODE you can physically feel the motivation and inspiration buzzing through the air. So, if you want to make something, actively learn, create and build the future – come to CODE.

Make something that lasts.
