Our courses in music performance offer the unique combination of a university education with outstanding professional training that develops your musicianship skills as well as analytical and critical abilities. This is enhanced by a generous provision of one-to-one lessons that focus upon developing your individual instrumental or vocal skills.
On this dynamic and stimulating course, you will benefit from regular masterclasses given by some of the world's most reputed and passionate musicians and performance coaching from leading professional ensembles-in-residence. You will build your musicianship skills, and acquire the tools and knowledge required to pursue a career in today's diverse music industry.
This course involves individual lessons on a main instrumental or vocal study in classical or jazz though there are many opportunities to cross over genres and styles. You will develop flexible musicianship skills and gain the opportunity to explore new styles and techniques. Teaching and learning is practical and includes one-to-one lessons, masterclasses, group coaching, tutorials, lectures, seminars and a wide range of ensemble work. Performance is at the heart of this course and you will be given many opportunities to give concerts both within the university and in the wider community.

Please note fees are paid for each year of study unless otherwise stated. You will be required to re-enrol and pay fees at the beginning of each academic year. Entry requirements
You will need:
Grade 8 standard on the first study instrument or voice is desired plus sight reading ability at Grade 5 or 6 and theory at Grade 5.
International students need to meet our English language requirement at either IELTS at 6.0 or above and a minimum of 5.5 for each of the 4 individual components (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening).
