Course Overview

The BA Political Ecology with Humanitarianism and Law is a unique and topical degree programme that will explore the complex issues behind globalisation, population growth and climate change.

UWTSD understands that there is a need for well-informed, knowledgable graduates to consider and address these issues that are facing us and future generations. BA Political Ecology with Humanitarianism and Law is an excellent foundation for students who want to seek answers to these environmental issues and have an interest in understanding the envinroments around them and the ways in which the world and communities can sustain themselves for future generations.

Thanks to the expertise of UWTSD staff and the wide-ranging degree programme, students will have the confidence and skill set to move into the working world.

Students will draw from the expertise within the well-established philosophy & ethics and anthropology departments, as well as the staff whose research lies in environmental and ecological developments and challenges.

The Humanitarianism and Law aspect of the degree will give students a strong foundation in the legalities and laws of key issues. There is a specific focus on International and Human Rights Law and Ethics, with consideration of the challenges posed by environmental change, poverty, natural disaster as well as conflict and war; the role of information networks and organisations such as the United Nations; and the management of refugees, migrants, trafficking and terrorism are also considered.
