About Bachelor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences with Honours, Major in Mathematics, BCMS - at University of Waikato

If you enjoy tinkering with technology, designing new things and solving complex problems the Bachelor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences (Honours) gives you the chance to explore many fields which are in high-demand.

In the BCMS(Hons) you can major in:

  • Computer Science
  • Data Analytics
  • Mathematics

First-year papers are common across most Bachelor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences (BCMS) majors which means you can try all in your first year. Because the first three years of the BCMS(Hons) are very similar to the Bachelor of Science (BSc), you can choose when you graduate. You have the option to graduate after three years with a BSc or stay on for an extra year and complete your BCMS(Hons).

In the BCMS(Hons) you will benefit from practical, project based papers which will equip you with the technical, communication and practical skills for a career in a field of numerous international opportunities.

The BCMS(Hons) is taught by some of New Zealand's leading computing and mathematics researchers, who are kept close to local and international industry developments through regular research and consulting work. We regularly update our papers to reflect this changing environment and match our programmes to Faculty expertise.
