Our flexible Applied Languages degree programme allows you to study two languages to a high level, with the opportunity to focus more on one language in the final year, and to have a particular focus on translation in one or both languages in the second and final years.
Our Applied Languages programme focuses on training language experts, helping you gain near-native fluency in both of your languages and acquire an understanding of how languages work.
You will have opportunities to develop translation skills and, if you opt for translation modules, you will also gain insight into various aspects of the profession, such as subtitling and interpreting.
All students will also have the opportunity to begin learning another ab initio language, Portuguese, in the second year.
All the pathways include a Professional Training year, giving you the choice between work placements, study placements, or a combination of the two.
You will divide your Professional Training year between two linguistically relevant countries, and in all cases our placement team will work closely with you to ensure that you make the most of this valuable opportunity.
