The Postgraduate Diploma Counselling Children and Young People was the first postgraduate course of its kind. It incorporates the BACP Counselling Young People training curriculum (11- 18 years) and is designed for qualified Counsellors and Psychotherapists who want to continue their professional development and enhance their career prospects with in-depth training in counselling children and young people.
It offers a unique blend of knowledge and skills practice, providing a pathway to many exciting opportunities within the field of therapeutic work with young people. It can be used as a stand-alone qualification or be part of a two year masters in Counselling Children and Young People.
You will develop an appreciation of the differences in working with this group as opposed to adults, and of the theories and practical skills necessary to communicate and connect with this client group.
Additional benefits include the opportunity to gain an insight into children's services and the legal and ethical challenges of working with this age group; a practice placement in a school or youth setting; and a learning package which includes block teaching and distance learning, enabling you to study and work in tandem.
