About Economics and Mathematics, BSc - at University of Sheffield

The BSc Economics and Mathematics is a dual honours degree combining advanced mathematical and technical skills with the opportunity to apply these to real-world economic policy.

In your first year you will focus primarily on the mathematics modules, whilst gaining a foundational knowledge of microeconomic and macroeconomic analysis and their roles in economic policy making. In the second and third year, you will be able to choose from a wide variety of modules from both subjects and balance the split between the two subjects evenly.

These two subjects complement each other very well; you'll develop the analytical skills essential for economists to make sound judgements and mathematics adds another dimension to your experience, making you a highly effective thinker and problem-solver.

We offer you the chance to do a year-long work placement, starting after your second year. This is a great opportunity to get paid work experience with some of the UK's top employers who want to recruit the best students from Sheffield.
