Overview
The Master’s Degree in Mechanical Innovation for Product Engineering is a modern Mechanical Engineering Program, focusing on key areas of mechanical innovation, such as innovative materials (metal alloys, polymers, composites, nanomaterials), the latest mechanical design methodologies and simulations (static, fatigue, dynamic, thermo-fluid-dynamics, and aerodynamics) and the most advanced manufacturing processes and logistics systems. The Master program offers both theoretical courses and high level applied or research-oriented teachings within a framework of industrial competitiveness and sustainability, providing students with advanced knowledge and skills to model, simulate, and design innovative products, define and design modern and sustainable processes and industrial systems.
Programme structure
In order to guarantee a strong background in the area of Mechanical Engineering, compulsory courses are offered in the fields of Mechanics of Materials, Innovative Metallic Alloys, Advanced Thermodynamics, Dynamics and Vibrations, Product and Process Engineering, Assembly Systems and Logistics, Product Development and Innovation.
The Program is completed with a proper number of paths, each with focused teachings. The topics cover by the paths can be summarised as follows:
• mechanical design methodologies and simulations (static, fatigue, dynamic, thermal), including those necessary to effectively design advanced mechanical components with innovative materials such as composites, nanocomposites and polymers, also taking advantage of numerical tools.
• engineering design of advanced and automated manufacturing systems, including the design of automatic machines, maintenance management policies, human sustainability, ergonomics and safety, digital twins for automation and collaborative robots, additive manufacturing.
• industrial and product sustainability, such as materials selection for sustainable design, materials technology and recycling, green design, lightweight design, energy management in industry.
The Master’s degree programme culminates in a significant design activity, concluding with an industrial internship and a Master project thesis to demonstrate to abilities in mastering the subject matter, autonomous working capabilities, and strong communication skills.
Career opportunities
Graduates can work both in Italy and internationally in technical and managerial positions focusing in the areas of advanced design, research and development, quality control, innovation and production development, planning and scheduling, management of complex systems. They can be enrolled by manufacturing or service companies in several industrial sectors, such as, just to mention a few: mechanical engineering industry, automotive and aerospace industry, metalworking industry, rubber and plastic industry, textile, clothing, and leather industries, food, beverage, paper and tobacco industries, packaging and packaging systems industry, energy related industries (cooling and heating systems, wind energy etc.).
Our tuition fees will not exceed 3000 euros per year. Scholarship and fee waivers are available for international students, for more information visit our website.
