The School of Nursing and Academic Division of Midwifery operate from five main education centres across Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire providing pre-registration and post-registration, degree and higher degree courses.

Learning in practice occurs in selected wards, community health centres, primary health care teams, and other settings within the local NHS Health Care Trusts and the voluntary and social service sectors.

Research within the school focuses on cancer and palliative care; education and health informatics; mental health; and child and maternal health. The School of Nursing was awarded a score of 22 out of 24 in subject review and 3a in the latest Research Assessment Exercise.
