Overview
The Higher Diploma in Arts is a conversion programme for graduates and applicants who would not normally have studied the relevant Higher Diploma in Arts subject to honours degree level previously. The Higher Diploma in Arts (Béaloideas) is a programme of study running for 18 months (part-time by day) from the date of first registration for the programme.
Some candidates with cognate honours degrees (with a minimum overall second class honours or equivalent) may be considered for the taught Masters programmes available in the Department of Bealoideas. Enquiries with regard to suitability for these Masters programmes can be made directly to the

Course Details
The Higher Diploma in Arts shall consist of modules to the value of 60 credits taken from a range of existing Second and Final Arts modules in the relevant subject. Suitable modules as well as attendance requirements and coursework are determined by the relevant academic departments and approved by the College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences. For any given subject, the programme of study to be followed may differ for each individual student, depending on the individual's background, preferred area of specialisation etc.
The programme will be made up of modules in the subject from Levels II and III of the undergraduate BA degree. The online College Book of Modules contains descriptions for all modules offered in the University's modularised programmes for the current academic year HERE

Course Practicalities
The course consists of modules to the value of 60 credits taken from a range of existing year 2 and 3 modules at BA level. Thesubject modules will be chosen by the student in consultation with staff of the Department of Folklore, having regard to timetable constraints and suitability of course combinations.
The modules studied will vary for each individual student, depending on background, preferred area of specialisation etc.

The online Book of Modules contains the assessment criteria for all modules offered in the university's modularised programmes for the current academic year.
