About The London Interdisciplinary School (LIS)

The London Interdisciplinary School (LIS) is a new Higher Education provider in Whitechapel, East London offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, as well as professional courses.

LIS admitted its first cohort of undergraduate students in 2021. Students on the interdisciplinary undergraduate degree follow a problem- based learning model studying complex problems through interdisciplinary teaching. They will graduate with a Bachelor of Arts and Science (BASc) in Interdisciplinary Problems and Methods.

The Bachelor of Arts and Sciences (BASc) in Interdisciplinary Problems and Methods is a new kind of degree in the UK.

Each term, you’ll tackle a specific problem such as inequality, sustainability, or the ethics of AI. You’ll study concepts and theories from subjects like anthropology, physics, and contemporary art that provide the lenses through which to understand these complex issues. At the same time, you’ll learn a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods — ranging from coding to interview techniques to storytelling.

The problem-centric degree at LIS creates connections across multiple disciplines, giving you a wide-reaching, purpose-led undergraduate education. On top of this, LIS brokers paid internships each year, to help you build your insight and experience in the world of work.
