Environment and Sustainability, which for good reasons all the top universities in the world focus on in teaching and research, is also one of the four major strategic areas of our University (CUHK).
In the last decade, the United Nations had announced a global plan to end poverty, protect the globe, and ensure that people live on this planet enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030, performed by 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs). The 17 SDGs are recognised as the actions that in one area will affect the outcomes in another, and any developmental plan must consider the balance between social, economic and environmental sustainability.
Therefore, nurturing the younger generation is one of the keys to assessing global biodiversity, managing the environment, performing technological innovation and delivering of integrated knowledge, and is crucial to the sustainable practices to achieve the 17 SDGs.
MSc. BEST aims to enhance and equip students with professional knowledge from diversified fields including biodiversity, environmental management, sustainability and related technologies. Students are going to develop both intellectual and practical skills in revisiting the current challenges faced in the global biodiversity and environmental issues, as well as proposing future measures and implementation direction. The programme is designed for students coming from both local and other parts of the world, and students graduated from this programme will be able to pursue future career in relevant fields to contribute and execute sustainability in different aspects mentioned above.
