About Mathematics at Queen Mary, University of London

The MSc in Mathematics aims to give a rigorous training in advanced mathematics to students who have already obtained a first degree with substantial mathematical content. Students successfully completing the MSc will acquire depth of knowledge in their chosen areas of mathematics. You will normally take eight courses in total, with one course typically comprising 24 hours of lectures given during a twelve-week semester. In addition to the MSc courses offered at Queen Mary, you can also choose from an extremely wide range of advanced mathematics lecture courses offered at other Colleges of the University of London. During the summer period, after the examinations, you are required to complete a dissertation, working largely independently in an advanced topic in mathematics.AssessmentExaminations are held May to June on the courses taken. Dissertations are evaluated in September. Successful completion of the MSc programme will result in the award of the degree of MSc in Mathematics (possibly with Distinction).Entry requirementsEquivalent of a UK first or good upper-second class honours degree having substantial mathematical content.
