About Policing Studies at Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU)

As part of the suite of Policing Studies programmes, taught within the Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies, this Level 6 top-up degree will take you on a critical exploration of contemporary policing issues enabling you to develop specialist skills and prepare you for a rewarding career. It also addresses opportunities for continuing professional development, by focussing on key academic material from specialist areas of policing, such as intelligence-led policing, terrorism and counter-terrorism studies and criminal investigation. The programme primarily focusses on policing in the United Kingdom, but the content can be applied to contemporary policing globally.

​You will receive online support from experienced and dedicated distance-learning lecturers, plus the administrative and library support enjoyed by every LJMU student. Regular synchronous and asynchronous forums will be offered in addition to individual tutorials conducted via Skype or similar technology.

Extra sessions and materials will be available in respect of study skills, in addition to the Learning Hub and Community Site on Canvas.

Notes about fees for this course

The fees quoted are those for the 2018/19 year as information for 2019/20 is not yet available. The Department for Education (DfE) have recently announced that they will be freezing tuition fees for the 2019/20 academic year. However, this is still subject to the normal parliamentary approval. Once 2019/20 fees are confirmed we will update our web pages accordingly.
