Engineering is the field that brings together mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical, and digital systems to deliver sustainable, practical solutions. Our engineers are trained to see the big picture while managing the details that make complex systems work.
This programme is designed to support your development as a professional engineer. You’ll begin with Engineering Fundamentals, gaining the scientific and technical knowledge to tackle complex problems. Alongside this, Engineering Skills will strengthen your practical ability through labs, workshops, and training in communication and project management. Engineering Simulation and Mathematics will then help you apply advanced analysis and modelling techniques, allowing you to understand and present engineering concepts with precision.
You will advance to integrating elements from multiple engineering disciplines, manufacturing principles, and interface control methods to deliver functional, sustainable products and services. In your final year you will integrate core knowledge of subsystems from different domains into a coherent, verifiable whole, applying advanced computer-aided engineering (CAE) tools, interface management, configuration control, and multi-domain verification. You will also develop key skills in leadership, teamwork, communication and research through completion of two major projects: an individual research dissertation and a collaborative industry-led design project.

You’ll benefit from industry-informed teaching, networking opportunities, and access to practical experience through local partnerships and initiatives. Professional practice is embedded throughout, preparing you for the workplace with skills in teamwork, ethics and communication. You’ll also grow personally through Professional Challenge Projects based on real industry scenarios – giving you the chance to apply your learning and stand out in a competitive engineering landscape.
With an emphasis on professional skills, we’ll support your seamless transition into practice, whether through a work placement, international year, secondment, or finding graduate roles in industry. You also have the option to specialise in a specific discipline from your second year onwards or to continue your studies at MEng level for an enhanced degree title.
