Manchester Metropolitan University is home to a diverse community of international students from over 100 countries.
Located in the centre of Manchester, Manchester Met’s campus is conveniently located close to the city’s many world-renowned music, sports and cultural venues, as well as the second-largest Chinatown in Britain.
The University is undergoing a £400m investment programme to enhance its teaching and research facilities, buildings and public spaces. This includes the opening of their Institute of Sport and School of Digital Arts (SODA).
Manchester Metropolitan conducts research in fields that are actively shaping the world, both now and in the future. Ninety percent of the University’s research impact is 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent'*, which is testament to the quality of the research that it conducts. For example, the Manchester Fuel Cell Innovation Centre is leading the development of clean energy and in Art and Design, they are second in the UK for the power of their research.
Manchester Met aims to mould students into highly employable individuals. The University provides its students with regular employability events, including advice workshops, networking opportunities, guest speakers and careers fairs.
It also has industry links with many global companies, including IBM, Bentley Motors, Bosch, Nike, Walt Disney, L’Oreal, Lloyds Banking Group, and many more. Support continues after graduation, with students benefitting from lifelong access to its digital careers service.
International students are supported throughout their journey to Manchester Met by the University’s knowledgeable and friendly International Office. The team are there to help with queries that students have prior to leaving their home countries.
The University also provides support to students once they join, such as free English language classes and help from Academic and Study Skills Tutors.
The University’s Student Hub offers a comprehensive information service on all student-related matters. It can refer students for specialist support on student living, studying and finance, as well as immigration and welfare. This service can be accessed digitally, by telephone or by visiting Manchester Met’s Student Hubs on campus.
In addition, Manchester Metropolitan also has a confidential Counselling, Mental Health and Wellbeing Service that can provide guidance through one-to-one sessions or group workshops on relaxation, stress management and confidence building.
The University also provides a range of scholarships exclusive to international students, up to the value of £3,000¶.
