This course offers a mix of practice, theory and advanced academic study. It develops the skills and techniques required to practice public relations at an international level and an understanding of the PR practitioner’s role as guardian of corporate reputation.

Public relations is a booming industry and graduates who have the skills to meet the dynamic changes of this exciting and growing sector are in demand.

Public relations specialisms are expanding too, and graduates are gaining jobs in a number of areas including crisis management, corporate social responsibility, media relations, corporate communication, sponsorship and internal communication.

Our MA International Public Relations and Global Communications Management is a unique one year course that develops the skills and techniques required to practice public relations and communications at an international level.

Public relations, at its heart, is about communication between an organisation and its public(s), but 21st century public relations - with the advent of new media - is embedded in everything from politics and business to celebrity. PR is now firmly at the heart of strategic organisational planning.

Aside from gaining valuable practical skills, you are introduced to business, organisational and PR theory so that you can apply critical thinking to professional scenarios to further the effectiveness and quality of public relations that is practiced in industry.

This synthesis of theory and practice culminates in a final dissertation where you have the opportunity to apply what you have learnt to an area of personal PR interest. This piece of advanced academic study would enable you to embark on further research in the field of international public relations, should you wish to do so.

Testimonial from Zoe, Biosciences, UK, 2021, student at Cardiff University

Cardiff really is surrounded by some scenic gems. It’s in the middle of everything and is so well connected with transport links that you can get pretty much everywhere and anywhere you want.

I chose Cardiff because it felt right. It was the first open day I attended and even on that first visit I just really liked the feel of the city, with it already feeling like home.
