Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries on the planet; generating millions of new job opportunities, worldwide, every year.
This course is accredited by The Institute of Hospitality, Institute of Travel and Tourism, Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing, Tourism Management Institute and United Nations World Tourism Organisation. Recognised by the Institute of Travel and Tourism (ITT) Centre of Excellence, our four-year course was one of the first to be offered in the UK and has been refined over three decades to give you an excellent understanding of how private and public organisations work together within the tourism sector.
You’ll develop management and business skills that are essential to get ahead in this industry and in your final year, you’ll have a choice of modules, allowing you to tailor your degree to suit your interests and career goals.
You’ll have the chance to learn a new language; French, Spanish or Mandarin, and we regularly provide you with opportunities to apply what you have learnt to relevant real-world contexts, through industry speakers and events, consultancy projects and ‘live’ scenarios and residential fieldtrips to tourism hotspots, which in the past have included Jersey and Malta, as well as various attractions within the UK. Bournemouth is also a perfect location to study tourism management, a popular seaside resort with many tourism and hospitality businesses and opportunities to learn from the locality.
You can also expand your horizons and spend some time studying abroad with one of our 40 partner institutions in the USA, Australia, Europe and Asia. What’s more a 30-week supervised work placement in the UK or overseas will give you the opportunity to turn theory into practice in a business environment, ensuring you gain practical experience that could help you secure a management-level position immediately after graduating.
