About Economics at Bournemouth University

Our Economics degree exposes you to an extensive knowledge of fundamental aspects of economics study, including analytical skills, an understanding of economic systems and an appreciation of financial disciplines, all of which are essential for starting a career in the global financial community.

You’ll develop a theoretical and practical framework in accounting, finance and economics in year one, and at the end of the year you’ll be afforded the opportunity to transfer to another pathway should you wish. The purpose of this flexibility is to support you in aligning your curriculum with your future career aspirations or to help you keep your options open.

The second year of this four-year course offers the opportunity to study abroad, as you’ll be invited to attend one of our international partner institutions during the second semester. Currently we have partners in Australia, Canada and Europe.

In year three you’ll get the opportunity to experience life in a working environment with a 30-week placement, which can be completed at home or abroad, and allowing you to apply the analytical skills and theoretical knowledge forged in the classroom, to a real-world context. The opportunity will also see you secure career contacts, improve your resume, and ultimately enhance your employability.

87% of our final year students feel that the IT resources and facilities have supported their learning. Join us on live chat now to find out more, or register to meet us at an open day. Or you could watch the online presentation to find out more about this course.
