About Transport Planning, MSc - at Aston University

Distance learning master's degrees developed from our long -established CPD programme benefitting from the experiences of many practising external tutors as well as those working at the University.Entry requirementsThe entrance requirements are a good first degree or equivalent in a relevant subject. An Aston Post Experience Certificate with appropriate grades and practical experience will be considered. You must also demonstrate proficiency in English such as GCSE/‘O’ Level English (Grade C), IELTS 6.5 overall or TOEFL 250 (CBT) / 600 (PBT). Exemptions from modules will be considered for those who already hold an equivalent up-to-date postgraduate qualification. We accept many international qualifications and will provide individual advice: please contact the admissions tutor with details of qualifications including country, institution, course title, dates and grades.Learning, teaching & assessmentGuided reading using Blackboard; use of the internet including electronic journals via Library and Information Services All the modules except the Dissertation Preparation and the Dissertation are assessed by a three-hour examination. Details are available from the University web site.Career opportunitiesIntended for recent graduates and practitioners working in public or private sectors who wish to enhance or change the direction of their chosen careers - they can be taken at a pace to suit your commitments, up to a maximum of five years.Personal developmentSkills you will acquire on the course: The aims and purposes of intervention in the land use/transport system. The processes by which transport demand arises and is addressed. The techniques available for sustainable policy formulation and evaluation. The policy initiatives which have been implemented and evaluation of these. The institutional context in which transport policy is formulated and applied. Skills in the analysis of issues and inter-relationships between them. Skills in the collection, analysis and interpretation of data.Facilities & equipmentGuided reading using Blackboard; use of the internet including electronic journals via Library and Information Services.
