Masters in Turkey

Turkish universities offer a broad range of master’s degrees, provided by both public and private  universities and specialised institutions including business schools. These degrees encompass a variety of postgraduate qualifications such as Master of Science (MSc), Master of Arts (MA), Master of Research (MRes), and Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Duration

A master’s degree in Turkey typically lasts for one to two years when studied full-time. Some specialised programs, particularly those that are research-focused or include practical training, might take longer than this to complete.

Language of Teaching

While Turkish is the primary language of teaching in many programs, there is a growing number of master’s programs offered in English, aimed at attracting international students.

How to Apply for a Master’s Degree in Turkey

International students generally apply directly to their chosen Turkish university. The application process involves submitting a CV or resume, academic transcripts, a personal statement, and letters of recommendation. For programs focused on research, a research proposal may also be required.

Proof of language proficiency is important, with IELTS or TOEFL for English-taught courses, and Turkish language proficiency tests for courses taught in Turkish. Academic requirements typically include a relevant undergraduate degree. Some fields, especially business and engineering, may also require passing scores from exams like the GMAT or GRE.

Postgraduate Tuition Fees for International Students

Tuition fees for international students in Turkey are relatively low compared to other countries, making it an attractive destination for postgraduate studies. Fees typically range from $300 to $1,500 annually at public universities. Private universities generally charge higher, ranging from $6,000 to $20,000 per year.

Scholarships and financial aid options are available for international students from both the universities themselves and various governmental and non-governmental organisations. These scholarships can significantly reduce the financial burden of studying abroad.
