Creativity is the beating heart of today’s Berlin. It is a city that vibrates with artistic expression, the exchange of ideas and the potential for change,  and it’s from this melting pot that Catalyst – Institute for Creative Arts and Technology emerged. Using a progressive education model rooted in project-based learning and collaboration, Catalyst develops you holistically – as an individual, as well as a skilled professional in your chosen field, whether that’s music, sound, film, visual media or acting.

We offer courses for a range of different levels and needs. Take the time to fully build, define and refine your path on our 3-year BA and 1-year full time (or 2-year part time) MA courses or immerse yourself in a new industry on our 1-year HE Certificate courses. Alternatively, you can get a taste of all the magic both Berlin and Catalyst have to offer on a 4-week Summer Short Course programme. Whichever part of your journey you are joining us on, you’ll be tutored in English by expert practitioners active in their field.

Our student body is currently made up of over 75 nationalities, giving us a uniquely international outlook. Where cultures collide, creativity thrives. Our community members have won awards at Locarno Film Festival, performed at the Eurovision Song Contest and played music festivals around the world. Closer to home, you’ll find our fingerprints all over the city. From collaborations with Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin to running techno nights, from featuring in film festivals to setting up new ones – we help you both discover your creative vision and bring it to life.

Bringing our experienced tutors and diverse community together with your passion and commitment is a recipe for growth and success. During your time at Catalyst, you won’t just learn your craft – you’ll develop the real-world skills and attributes that will continue to transform your daily life long after you have left Catalyst behind.  Study what you love, dream big and grow your greatness.
