Hartpury University has unveiled its 2025/26 studentship scheme, designed to complement postgraduate study with real-world research, business and coaching opportunities within a paid position in our Sports Academy.
The scheme includes both MSc and MRes studentships across various degrees including MSc Sports Coaching, MSc Strength and Conditioning, MSc Applied Performance Analysis in Sport, and MSc Sports Management. Responsibilities typically include assisting with coaching, performance analysis, and collaborating with senior management on tasks like programme marketing and administration. MRes studentships provide paid opportunities for students to engage in significant research addressing specific industry challenges.
There are many advantages to the studentship roles including networking with industry professionals as well as working with professional and national league clubs, and access to professional facilities and resources.
Students who have previously taken up studentship opportunities have been quick to praise the scheme.
Jayne Isherwood, Women’s Rugby Athlete studentship and MSc Sports Coaching student said: “The opportunities I’ve pursued at Hartpury have significantly improved my coaching confidence and abilities. High-level coaches and teachers have helped me to engage in conversations and progress massively as a coach. It’s incredible that I can apply the valuable theory and guidance I’ve acquired from them into the training I provide — I get to see the fruits of my learning in real-time.”
Dr Martin Longworth, Senior Lecturer in Sports Coaching said: “We’re proud to offer such a diverse range of roles within the Sports Academy on a wide variety of our postgraduate awards.
