PFH – Individual, personal, flexible and practice-oriented

PFH Private University of Applied Sciences Göttingen is an internationally oriented, state-recognized private university. Founded in 1995, the hybrid university for applied sciences with a broad range of disciplines has developed into one of the most renowned universities in Germany. It was recognised by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture in 1995, which means that it is Lower Saxony’s oldest private, state-recognised university. The incentive for its foundation was the idea of providing fresh impetus in the fields of science and teaching with a purely privately funded university that offers a study programme aligned to the real needs of the economy. In 2007, PFH received institutional accreditation from the Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (ZEvA). At the end of 2018, PFH received institutional re-accreditation from the German Council of Science and Humanities.

Since 2020, PFH has been part of the Galileo Global Education Group, Europe’s largest higher education group with around 170,000 students and pupils at 91 locations in 13 countries. Around 4,000 students are currently enrolled in the 30 campus and distance learning programmes offered at PFH.

They study either at one of the two campus locations in Göttingen and Stade or at one of the distance-learning centres located across Germany and Austria or completely online.

The degree programmes for Management & Law, Technology, Orthobionics, Psychology and Business Psychology in Göttingen and Stade offer innovative content and are equally application-oriented and international in nature. PFH has a high level of networking competence with regard to its more than 40 partner universities as well as a wide range of practical and corporate contacts. The Board of Trustees, which is made up of companies such as Airbus, Bahlsen, Continental, Novelis, Ottobock, PwC, SAP, TUI and T-Systems, is worthy of particular mention.

The University has always been actively contributing to securing Germany’s position as a science and business location through its intensive training of qualified new managerial blood. PFH meets these high aspirations through a consistent orientation towards practical experience, through its marked internationality and by developing innovative teaching programmes.

PFH – The University for Entrepreneurs

As a university run on entrepreneurial lines, the training of entrepreneurial new blood is an essential cornerstone of PFH’s orientation. The activities pertaining to this topic area are concentrated in the ZE Zentrum für Entrepreneurship (Centre for Entrepreneurship). Imparting entrepreneurship content or an ability to act entrepreneurially as a key qualification cuts across all the PFH’s departments.

Through its Board of Trustees and its more than 500 partner companies, the University has excellent links to business throughout Germany and, particularly in the regions of Göttingen und Stade, is embedded in a largely SME-oriented company environment. Entrepreneurial thinking is also reflected in the student body, in the form, for example, of a large percentage of students who specify setting up on their own as a career goal or already come from an entrepreneurial family background.
