With a diverse community of more than 43,000 students from 162 countries around the world, the University of Alberta (U of A) is a top 100 ranked world-class institution with a long history of leadership and innovation around the globe.

For those choosing schools internationally, selecting a postsecondary institution is a significant investment. To help ease the financial cost, the U of A in Edmonton, Canada, offers numerous scholarships and awards. Many of them are specifically for international students, and easy to apply for with a single application.

Students and their families also want to know that their tuition will not increase. The U of A provides that peace of mind through a tuition guarantee.

With over $40.6 million in financial support every year for undergraduate students, there is substantial support available for incoming students, and one in five students receive a scholarship upon acceptance.

As a Top 5 University in Canada, ranked 2nd nationally for Graduate Employment, a degree from the U of A is a valuable investment in yourself and your future.

Here’s how the U of A makes it easy for international students to receive the financial support they deserve.

Tuition Guarantee

Feel secure in knowing exactly how much your tuition will cost, from day one. As a part of our tuition guarantee, the U of A is committed to providing transparent financial information for all prospective students.

Upon admission, the U of A guarantees tuition will not increase during your specified program duration, allowing you to make an informed decision that is right for you and your family. This tuition guarantee will be effective for the typical length it takes to complete the program, plus an additional year.

Ease of Application

For admission-based scholarships, you could receive awards depending on your admission average alone!

Significant Financial Support

The President’s International Distinction Scholarship, valued at $120,000 CAD, supports 25 outstanding undergraduate international students who have not only demonstrated strong academic accomplishments, but have served their community and showed exceptional leadership qualities. Similarly, the University of Alberta International Leader Scholarship recognizes well-rounded leaders and superior academics, with an award of up to $10,000 CAD.

Some of the admission-based scholarships you may be eligible for, include:

  • University of Alberta International Admission Scholarship – Students with superior academics in high school may receive a maximum of $5,000 CAD.
  • Regional Excellence Scholarship – Top students from certain regions could receive up to $5,000 CAD, based on admission average.
