At Nottingham Trent University, we had an opportunity to develop new engineering courses from scratch. We wanted to create talented and employable graduates and worked closely with industry to make this a reality. Armed with this knowledge we turned engineering education on its head by basing our teaching around live industry projects and problem solving.
Using this approach, we aim to give our students three to four years’ of industry experience before they graduate. Who wouldn’t want that on their CV?
We developed our engineering courses by working closely with companies such as Speedo, PepsiCo, 3M, British Steel, Bombardier, Rolls Royce and The Institution of Engineering Technology (IET). We also invited them to work with our students on live projects and challenges.
Take a look at our innovative courses:
Our engineering students benefit from studying in our brand new Interdisciplinary Science and Technology Centre (ISTeC) building. It is designed to bring together teaching and research across science and technology, giving our students experience of studying and sharing ideas with other areas in science.
