Located in the North-East of Italy, the University of Padova is a world-leading research intensive university that has been inspiring global change since its foundation in 1222. Loyal to its motto Universa Universis Patavina Libertas (Paduan freedom is universal for everyone), it has always been a bastion of free thought, study and research. During eight centuries, students, researchers and alumni have provided key contributions to the advancement of knowledge, science and society. It was at Padova that Elena Lucrezia Cornaro Piscopia became the world’s first woman to graduate, in Philosophy, in 1678.
The University of Padova is a multidisciplinary institution, with 8 Schools and 32 Departments offering a broad and comprehensive portfolio of programmes ranging from Engineering to Business and Political Sciences, from Medicine to Humanities, from Psychology to Agriculture, from Law to Science: over 80 Bachelor’s degrees (3 years), 80 Master’s degrees (2 years) and 10 Single-cycle degrees (5 or 6 years), out of which 24 degrees are taught entirely in English.
It is recognised as the best university in Italy for teaching quality (based on the 2018 evaluation of ANVUR, the Agency of the Italian Ministry of University and research in charge for assessing the university performance). Its performance within international rankings improves every year: 234 in the QS World Ranking 2020; 201-300 in the ARWU – Shanghai Ranking 2019; 200 – 251 in the Times Higher Education; 16 in the Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings 2019.

A special desk provides support with immigration procedures such as visas, residence permits, health insurance etc.
Students are offered a large number of financial benefits, both merit-based and income-based, to support their living costs; moreover, they can rely on a large number of incentives to attend events in the fields of art, music, theatre, cinema (e.g. Venice Film Festival) and sport throughout the year, as well as discounts in shops and free admission to museums. There are also many possibilities to practice sport (e.g. athletics, rugby, volleyball, basketball, boat races and more), both at competitive and amateur level, in two sports facilities.
Graduates are global citizens that succeed in all professional fields and bring into the world their expertise and dedication to excellence. A degree from the University of Padova is recognised as a prestigious achievement on job market worldwide.
The University affords a unique learning environment and is intertwined with the town and its layout. Its Research Centres, Departments and Schools are located across the town, and its students account for 30% of the local population.
Padova is a welcoming and beautiful city, offering one of the finest experiences of Italian arts, culture and lifestyle. It combines history, culture and art with thriving businesses in every sector. Thanks to the efficient
transport network, it is well connected to the main Italian and international cities (for example, Venice is less than 40 km away), which means that it is easy to reach and it is the ideal base from which to travel for business and pleasure.
