Study a Biotechnology Masters in the Netherlands in 2025

Biotechnology looks at the coming together of natural sciences and engineering sciences in order to use biological systems and living organisms to create products that meet a certain need. There are five main areas of biotechnology: animal, environmental, human, industrial and plant. You might choose to study a degree that focuses on one of these areas specifically, or a degree that covers them all throughout your studies.

Graduates of a masters degree in biotechnology will have a range of career options available to them. These include microbiologist, geneticist, ecological consultant, research analyst, and laboratory technician, among others.

Your degree will be delivered through lectures and seminars, as well as group projects and practical laboratory sessions. Modules you study might include:

  • Ageing and Regenerative Medicine
  • Virology
  • Microbial Fermentation
  • Computer Modelling in Science
  • Crop Science
