It combines university-based study and work placements, allowing students to examine both theory and practice relating to supporting learning and teaching.

Assessment

This is a required element of the programme during term time, consisting of a minimum of 60 hours per term. This provides opportunities for students to develop work skills and apply theory learned during college based sessions. A variety of different types of placement will be offered during the two years of the programme. A DBS check is required

Career Opportunities

On completion of the Foundation Degree, students may wish to complete the one-year top-up to a full Bachelors degree in Education Studies at UWTSD Swansea (or other similar top-up programmes). This could lead to

a teaching or other professional career in education. Alternatively the Foundation degree itself provides a high level of qualification when applying to work in a support role (Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, etc.) in school settings.
