It caters for the needs of teachers and other education professionals across the South West and aims to enhance personal knowledge and professional practice through a variety of approaches to study, reflection and critical analysis. Its success rests with its rich blend of expert tuition, recommended reading, directed school or centre-based activities, shared group discussions and supervised module assignments. There are over 80 education modules spanning the whole breadth of the curriculum. The key areas are listed in the programme content section. The modules examine recent research and developments, as well as encouraging new approaches within and across subject boundaries. Modules usually last a term with some involving evening attendance. The successful completion of assignments can lead to the following awards: the Certificate of Advanced Professional Studies (CAPS) or the Postgraduate Certificate (PgCert), or can contribute towards the Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) and Master of Arts degree.
